Hey!,
Well first of all you have to be in the right mind set. Know that you probably won't be at a level you once were or would like to be since you haven't ran in a while. With this in mind it can be discouraging to not be able to obtain something you'd like. However, each day you devote to running will get your stronger and stronger you just have to push through. Once you accept this fact take it slow. Don't overwhelm your mind, your body and self with thoughts of "I have to run for 1 hour or I have to jog for 30 minutes straight." I'd say commit to 15 minutes today (or tomorrow if it already late where you live). 15 minutes isn't much to ask for or devote. I'm sure there is a 30 minute TV sitcom you enjoy or once enjoyed. Let's say its your favorite show ...doesn't it always seem like you wait all week to watch, and then its over in the blink of an eye? Well imagine that TV show only being half as long as it already is....pretty short right? Well so is devoting 15 minutes to exercise. The 15 minutes isn't so much about physical activity its more about putting your sneakers on and hitting the track or treadmill. If you can commit to 15 minutes for just 1 week see how you feel. When your about to make excuses tell your brain to "Shut up" and grab your sneakers instead. Ignore those self defeating thoughts ...they will always linger within us. Your more important than those thoughts....remember that. Also think about how proud you will feel to break the routine of NOT running. Think about how your heart pumps and makes you feel so strong when you run. Think about that sweaty feeling and the nice cool well deserved shower to come after your done. Think about that boost of energy, and better spirit you create from cardiovascular work. Think about how you'll look with toned legs, glutes, stomach, calves, and more become when you run. Your worth more than the couch and cable bill. If you can't run 15 minutes straight there is nothing wrong with that. Walk 5 to warm up, run 1-5, and walk 5 to cool down. Eventually as you get more into the swing of things you can substitute more walking with jogging/running. For now 15 minutes of walking/running is more than your doing, and is enough to feel good. Finally, if make an agreement with yourself. Such as "If I take time to run/jog/walk for at least 15 minutes a day then I'll buy a new __________(water bottle, sneakers, wicking material socks, power bar, massage, whatever! just fill in the blank) The bottom line is "Just do it" ...as we say in yoga ....Namaste

Mind is the main problem. It keeps telling that there is lot of tome to run/to workout/to do yoga and so on.Do you ever apply mind if you find your mother standing before you after gap of years?Nature/divinity is your mother, your sourse.Close the stupid mind, and rush to it.Though I am late in responding,it is never late or wrong the way you rush to your mother.Wish you all the best.
