What style do you prefer and what are the advantages of each style? I have been running for year and have always just used basketball shorts. I am trying to get more serious in the gear I run in. -MCgg

Always use cotton shorts.
Let them be long enough to present you as a civilised being and no more.Let your private parts be as open and close to nature as possible.
As far as possible do not wear underwear when jogging.
