Hello there, I noticed just recently whenever I jog or like when I climb the stairs that my knees kind of creaks, I'm worried about it, do you have an idea what causes this? It's weird coz this is my first time to experience this creaking/snapping sound on my knees,I haven't gone to my doctor yet since I only noticed this just a couple of days ago, please advise me on what to do, I'll be looking forward to your comments! Thanks

Does it hurt everytime you run or climb the stairs? Other than these 2 activities that you do what other instances does this knee noise happens? I've had the same experience back in college when I got injured while playing soccer, I experience the same thing but it really doesn't hurt. I then went to a physiotherapist and recommended some exercise, the reason behind this is that my patella (knee cap) was slightly misplaced or unaligned (because of the injury). I suggest you go see your doctor asap so he can detect what's wrong with your knees. Have you had any injuries lately?

You might be lacking in Calcium, I haven't experienced this but possible cause may be your knee cap might be out of alignment which as a result it rubs on the adjacent tissues. You may want to start doing some exercises to help improve your knees, or better yet consult a physiotherapist right away. Hope you'll soon find the real cause of this knee noises,

Hi, havent posted for quite some time anyway I went to see a physio to find out what's wrong with my knees, most of your assumptions are right turns out that i'm suffering from chondromalacia patella, my kneecap tends to rub against one side of the knee joint. Just wanna update you guys, my doctor did suggest some strengthening exercises.

My friend had the same problem back on our college days. But, the cause of his knee creaks is because his overweight, he told me that his knee caps and joint cannot support his heavy weight that causes friction.

Hey mcarter! Is everything alright now with tour knees? Have one of those before. I haven't got the chance to go to a doctor and the symptoms just went away. When I read your post it made me decide to go to the doctor too. I am afraid it would come back again.

I have heard about this condition and the symptoms are hurting knees difficulty in climbing stairs, kneeling and squatting. Everybody can have this problem. Especially those who overworked most of the time and those who are very active in climbing and running. Basically this is due to the broken cartilage in the knees. It makes your knee weaker and more prone to breaking.
