Running - Long Distance
The standard long-distance events are the 3,000 meter steeplechase, 5,000 meters, and the 10,000 meters. The 3,000 meter Steeplechase entails going over two barriers. Only one barrier has a water pit after seven and a half laps. Runners have to have the three specific abilities namely strength, stamina, and agility to have an exceptional performance.
The 5,000 meters track event, on the other hand, is an entry-level race participated in by beginning runners. Tactics and aerobic conditioning are needed in this track event. This premier event also requires a vigorous training, including running for about 60-200 kilometers a week.
Lastly, the 10,000 meters completes the long distance track events. It is the longest standard track event. Runners competing in this event also participate in cross country running events and road races.
Long-distance track event races definitely consume a lot of energy. This is why runners have to balance their energy to remain in the game.
Factors like mental determination and aerobic conditioning play a big role in every runner's performance. Endurance in this track event is given more importance than speed, which is only secondary.
