While losing weight can make you feel good about yourself, numerous studies have proven that Running can also improve your mood and even treat mild to moderate depression. Some medical experts attribute this to the “feel good” chemicals called endorphins which are the body’s natural painkiller. These chemicals are the major cause of the so-called “runner’s high”, which is the calm state of mind that you have after undergoing a strenuous physical activity like Running. Though one burns lot of calories during running, there are no studies to show that runners lose more weight than individuals who do other types of exercise.
Health benefits of running are numerous, from reducing your chances of having common cold to cancer. Running is among the best aerobic exercises for physical conditioning of your heart and lungs. It helps ensure the efficient flow of blood and oxygen throughout the body, things that are proven to help to decrease the risk of a heart attack.

Many people in Japan practice walking or running backward. In that way, it burns several times more calories than traditional way of jogging exercise. Aside from this advantage, your balance increases, meaning vision and hearing powers increase, too. It is because you do not have eyes behind you, so the senses pick up the needs.

It is also a great stress-reliever and may even relieve mild depression. Many runners enjoy reaching the "runner's high" -; that euphoric, clear, and calm state they feel after a long run.
This "high" state is really out of world experience. It begins after you run for about 30 minutes, and takes you to a different world, and experience.I call it a "meditative state",and find from experience that no mediatation can be as soothing,as enjoyable, and,of course,as beneficial. That is why I call it "meditation par excellence".You do not run,you become running. You are in the lap of divinity, and leave the mundane world behind.
