A cancer patient from Lancaster, Pennsylvania who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma will be running in the 31st Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C., this weekend.
The fifty-three years old, Jeffrey Allen is one of the many people who will be running for the marathon and hopes to raise funds to benefit the cancer patients. He was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphoid tissue which is a part of the body's lymphatic system. Allen will be running as part of Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's in training, which is a major fund-raising program of the society.
The team in training program trains people of different levels to run or walk a marathon or half marathon, or complete a 100 mile bicycle ride or triathlon to reach a specific fundraising goal. Anne Adams, campaign manager for Team in Training said the Central Pennsylvania chapter raised nearly $1 million in 2005.
