Runner in the Marine Corps Dies after Collapsing

A runner from the Marine Corps Marathon, Earl Seyford, died yesterday afternoon after collapsing during the race.
Seyford collapsed at about 12:20 pm just before Mile 17 of the 26.2 mile course. He was brought to Washington Hospital Center.
Seyford was pronounced dead at about 1:10 pm. According to a D.C. police, he could have suffered from what seemed to be a heart attack or stroke.
Another male runner also collapsed, approximately 80 meters into the race at about 8:30 am. His condition was unavailable.
In the 31-year history of the Marine Corps Marathon, Seyford is the fifth runner to die during the race.
