Nepali Farmer Wins Marathon

Twenty-five year old Nepali farmer won the Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon held Tuesday. Despite a leg injury Deepak Raj Rai was excited to win the contest for the second consecutive time.
Deepak won the race with a winning time of 3ours, 59minutes, and 24seconds along with one-hundred thirty six runners who joined the marathon. The annual race, which started in 2003, is held to commemorate the first summit of the 8,848-metre peak by Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary on May 29, 1953. The marathon started at the bottom of Khumbu Icefall and ends in Namche Bazaar, a well known trekking base at 3, 446 meters.
One of the contestants who joined the marathon was a blind Irish runner, Mark Pollock. France's Antoine Bonafics won the foreigners' category, completing the course in 4hrs 51mins 10secs.
