Reggae Marathon for Fourth Year in Negril

More than 2,500 runners are expected to take part in the Reggae Marathon in Negril on December 1.
The marathon starts at Long Bay Beach Park situated along Negril's famed 7-mile white sand beach. The course loops into the town of Negril then heads north towards the Town of Green Island. The course is an IAAF certified marathon and half-marathon course and is described as flat.
The 2007 Reggae Marathon in Negril has more corporate sponsors. Several local villas and hotels such as the Beach House Villas and Hotel are supporting the marathon by offering discounts on hotel rooms.
One of the unique features of the Reggae Marathon is that spectators are spectators are treated to a special experience at the Reggae Marathon as reggae music is heard from 'sound systems' both tethered and mobile with wattage that could power a house.
The Reggae Marathon costs US$85.00 per person on or before July 31, 2007 and US$95.00 per person after August 1, 2007. The last date for online registration to the Reggae marathon is November 28.
The Reggae Marathon offers more than US$10,000 in prize money. The Bob Marley and Rita Marley Trophies are awarded to the male and female winners of the Reggae Marathon. The age group for the awards are Under 20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 years & over.
