$250,000 Up for Grabs at US Olympic Team Trials


MONDAY, 14 JANUARY 2008

Boston, Mass. - The 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials-Women Marathon will be held on Sunday, April 20, the day before the 112 Boston Marathon at 8:00 a.m.

The Boston Athletic Association and USA Track and Field already disclosed that the total prize money is $250,000.

According to Guy Morse, Executive Director of the Boston Athletic Association, the top 15 of the finishers in the Olympic Trials will be awarded $250,000. In addition, the top three will earn spots on the U.S. Olympic Team.

The first runner who finishes the race will get $50,000, second runner will get $40,000 and third runner will get $30,000, and so on. The 15th finisher will be awarded $1,500.

An Olympic Marathon Team bonus of $10,000 will also be given to each of the top three runners.
