Kenyan Runners Dominate Elgoibar Cross Country

Leonard Patrick Komon and Priscah Jepleting, both from Kenya, reigned supreme at the 65th Cross Internacional Juan Muguerza, which was held last Jan. 13 at Elgoibar, Spain.
The 20-year-old Komon was an overwhelming men's race winner while Jepleting, reigning World 500m bronze medallist, beat Ehtiopia's Wude Yimer in the closing stages to win the women's race.
Komon won the 10.68km race in 31:54, beating Bernard Kiprop, the reigning World bronze medalist from Mombassa, who finished at 32:07.
Jepleting and Yimer took turns in taking the lead but could not shake the other one off. In the final sprint, Jepleting defeat Yimer, although both athletes were given the same finishing time of 21:19.
