Montrail Becomes First Visionary Sponsor for HERA
TUESDAY, 29 APRIL 2008
Carbondale, CO - Montrail is a longtime supporter of the HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation, but this year, it has become HERA’s first Visionary Sponsor. With the Run Like A Girl partnership, Montrail underscores its commitment to creating better lives for women of all ages.
The Vision
"I first heard of the HERA Foundation through John Connor, who was working on Montrail's relationship with the climbing community," says Paul Curran, marketing manager of Montrail. Since then, Montrail has supported the organization in many ways, most recently, through the Run Like A Girl series. The events will make a $20,000 minimum donation to the HERA Foundation.
Why HERA?
"It's the perfect fit for a women's trail race," says Curran. "You don't hear a lot about ovarian cancer. A lot of other types of cancer get support from organizations, and we felt ovarian cancer deserved the same." Curran is pleased to be part of the HERA Foundation and says, "We salute the effort and passion of the HERA Foundation, and that of Sean Patrick."
Curran believes the motivation of Patrick, HERA Foundation founder, to spread awareness of ovarian cancer, along with her own struggle with the disease, has inspired Montrail to do what they can, too. "It's a small thing really that we're doing…we'd just like to help get the word out."
Curran looks forward to partnering with HERA at future events. "It's growing," he says. "This year it's four events - next year, we hope for six."
